Part 2 - Preliminary investigation of a method for adjusting Level 1 separation distances to wind direction frequencies for low wind speeds

28 Pages

Author(s): Johann Torringer

A number of issues concerning separation distances for different types of piggeries were identified following the presentation of the Australian Pork Limited (APL) Project 2141 at the SA piggery separation distance working group meeting in February 2008.

The method investigated in this report offers a way to calculate separation distances for piggeries with an increased level of accuracy compared to the National Environmental Guidelines for Piggeries (NEGP) Level 1 separation distance calculation method but at a reduced level of effort and at reduced costs compared to the NEGP Level 2 assessment method.

Since this method has not been extensively tested, verification of wind direction frequency adjusted Level 1 separation distances with dispersion modelling results is advised for processing of new meteorological data files.
