The National Centre for Pork Industry Training & Education (NCPITE) was established to address the challenges of attraction and retention of personnel in the Australian pork industry. The NCPITE concentrated on four areas including activities at school, vocational and tertiary level and life-long learning. Key activities to emerge include the “PigEd” learning and “PigTrain” skills CDs, “PigLink” (a series of online producer seminar presentations), Refresher Courses, and the annual two week production course on “The Science & Practice of Pig Production”, all of which enhance students and industry personnel knowledge of the pork industry.
