Australian Pork Ltd commissioned this project to determine the optimal lysine requirement of female and Improvac vaccinated males from 60 to 100 kg liveweight. The study was conducted at at a number of sites using diets of the same composition, concluding at a standard age rather than liveweight. The results indicated that between 58 and 76 kg (early finisher period) producers may achieve improvements in rate of gain and feed efficiency from increasing the current specifications of dietary lysine closer to the 0.70 g available lysine.
