Odour, dust and noise emission/pollution from outdoor piggeries has been acknowledged as a potential issue for the free-range pig industry, especially during the planning assessment process. The objective of this study was to quantify the likely dust, odour and noise emission levels typically encountered on free-range pig farms. The results documented very low odour emissions, dust concentrations and noise levels and indicated that the implementation of odour, dust noise, reduction strategies are unneccessary at this stage.
