Travel awards play a key role in increasing research sector capacity through enabling researchers to keep abreast of their field and network with overseas colleagues. During 2010/11 Australian Pork Limited enabled researchers to attend and report on the 3rd International C. difficile Symposium in Slovenia, the International Life Cycle Assessment Conference in Italy, the 45th Congress of the International Society for Applied Ethology in the USA, and the ‘Dealing with Listeria in the Processed Meat and Poultry Industry’ Summit in Sydney.
