This travel award allowed Jeremy Whitby, Queensland Natural Pork Holding (Marketing) Pty Ltd to attend the North Island Biogas Seminar in Inglewood, New Zealand. The seminar consisted of presentations on methods for capturing methane followed by a farm visit to view a pilot system in action. The visit demonstrated how research has provided solutions to the process components, including pond covers, compression and storage, scrubbing/cleaning, pressure control, balance of flow of fuel source between gas and grid, generator powering the farm, and co-generation of hot water to heat piglets. The findings serve as a demonstration for other producers.
