This travel award provided the opportunity for Stephen Wiedemann (FSA Consulting) to attend the 2008 Agri-food Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) conference, and a study tour of biogas plants and research facilities in Europe. The opportunity to investigate Europe’s advancement of biogas production and nutrient recovery research and technology identified that necessary knowledge and equipment for the development of the Australian industry can be readily accessed from international sources. Attendance at the conference and study tour formed connections with researchers and developments in leading European countries and has helped shape the approach of the Australian industry.
